About SnapEnergyLab
What is SnapEnergyLab?
It is a set of 74 calculation pages built on five shared engines, covering electricity consumption and cost, battery storage and backup, EV charging, heating comparison and solar generation. Every page leads with a working calculator, shows the formula behind its result, states its assumptions and lets you change every input. There is no sign-up, no lead form and no quote request.
What this site refuses to do
It does not manufacture precision. When the honest answer is a range, you get a range. A figure quoted to the cent from an assumption that could be off by 40% is worse than no figure at all, because it invites a decision it cannot support.
It does not hide the maths. Every result exposes the formula, the inputs used and the assumptions applied. If you disagree with an assumption, you can change it and watch the answer move — which is usually more informative than the answer itself.
It does not pad content. There is no five-hundred-word introduction before the calculator, no history of the light bulb, and no article that exists because a keyword tool suggested it. Writing is here to help you interpret, verify or challenge a number.
It does not sell you anything. No brand is recommended, no affiliate link is placed, and no result is tuned to make a purchase look better than it is. Several pages exist specifically to show when a purchase does not pay off.
How the calculations stay consistent
All arithmetic lives in shared engines rather than in individual pages, so a battery runtime quoted on one page cannot disagree with the same runtime quoted on another. Default values live in a single registry with a documented rationale and source. Both are versioned, and the versions appear on the methodology page so a result can be traced back to the exact code that produced it.
The site is server-rendered, which means the direct answer to each page’s question exists in the HTML before any JavaScript runs. Interactivity refines the numbers; it is never required to see them.
Where the limits are
These tools model physics with stated assumptions. They cannot see your tariff structure, your local weather, your building fabric, your installation quality or the condition of your equipment. For anything involving electrical work, structural changes or a significant purchase, use these results to frame the question and then get a qualified local assessment.
